Baby Leo’s Newborn Session in Leicestershire | A Cosy, Love Filled Morning
There’s something truly special about photographing a couple more than once, stepping back into their world and watching their story unfold. When I first met Ella and Joey, they were expecting little Leo, and we created a beautiful, intimate maternity session in their home. It was all laughter, tenderness, and the kind of closeness that makes you forget the camera’s even there.
So walking back through their door a few weeks later, this time greeted by soft newborn snuffles and the tiniest pair of curled up toes, felt like coming full circle.
A Morning Wrapped in Light and Love
Ella and Joey’s Leicestershire home was filled with that quiet, golden morning light that makes everything feel calm and sacred. We kept the session gentle and unhurried, just how I love my newborn photography in Nottingham and surrounding areas to be.
Baby Leo was chilling peacefully in their arms as we began in the bedroom, surrounded by soft linen, cosy knits, and a butt dimple or 2 (just Leo’s). The atmosphere was slow and dreamy, no over posing, no pressure, just natural moments as they unfolded.
As a newborn photographer Nottingham families often book for my relaxed, documentary approach, I always aim to capture the emotion of the morning rather than perfect poses. The little sighs, the hand holding, the sleepy smiles, those are the details that tell a story.
Sweet Details and Meaningful Memories
What made this session so special were all the tiny, personal touches that made it theirs.
Leo’s named knitwear, chosen by Ella before he arrived, was such a sweet feature. We photographed him tucked into it, his newborn skin still peeling ever so slightly, that delicate reminder of just how fresh these first days are.
Then, of course, his nursery. A soft, lion themed space, full of warmth and whimsy. We took a few quiet moments there, photographing Leo beneath his nursery sign, perfectly at home in his little kingdom.
One of my favourite parts of the morning was re creating a maternity shot from their previous session, same spot, same pose, but now with Leo in their arms. These are the kinds of photographs that make my heart full; they tell a full circle story.
Every tiny hand, every curl of a foot, every quiet yawn — those fleeting moments are what newborn photography in Nottinghamshire is all about.
Giggles, Love, and That Familiar Energy
Ella and Joey’s connection is honestly one of my favourites to photograph. They can’t go more than five minutes without laughing, teasing, or slipping in a cheeky comment that has us all giggling.
There’s so much love between them, the kind that’s rooted in friendship and fun, the kind that keeps the whole session light and real. That’s why I adore at home newborn photography: when you’re surrounded by your own things, your own energy, it never feels staged.
It’s what makes my approach as a newborn photographer in Leicestershire stand out, sessions that feel like a slow Sunday morning rather than a photoshoot.
Natural Newborn Photography | Capturing Real Moments
I’ve always believed that the best newborn photographs come from going with the flow. Babies need feeding, cuddling, winding, and sometimes a little jiggle shhhh (that’s my trick), and that’s all part of it.
During Leo’s session, we paused for a feed, chatted about those early newborn nights, and took a few quiet shots of Ella holding him against her chest. Those moments are powerful and honest, raw, loving, full of connection.
Whether I’m photographing as a newborn photographer in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, or Leicestershire, my goal is always the same: to tell your story exactly as it feels. Not perfect, not overly posed, just real.
Why an At Home Newborn Session is So Special
There’s something so grounding about photographing a new family in their own space. It’s where the love lives, where the baby books sit on the shelf, where the kettle boils between feeds, where your story truly begins.
Choosing an at home session means you can relax, feed when you need to, and just be yourselves. And from an artistic point of view, that’s when the real magic happens, soft light through your curtains, tiny fingers curling around yours, and a home that quietly tells your story in the background.
If you’re searching for a newborn photographer near me and wondering whether a home session might suit your family, I can promise you: it’s always worth it.
